The True Template for Success: Hire a Professional Writer
Sit around any conference table at any size company and every meeting or business campaign idea is all about the same thing: Finding ways to drive revenue while, at the same time, keeping overhead/costs down.
One way that companies attempt to do this is by creating templates for just about every writing-related project imaginable. It's a trend that has taken off in recent years. The problem is that there are no cookie-cutter answers in today's ever-evolving corporate climate where uniqueness and the ability to think outside the box is paramount to survival.
News of the decision to use these "one size fits all" templates can be like a stiff uppercut to writers like me, who make a living generating all kinds of copy for all kinds of businesses. Yet, when a marketing department gets word that it needs to make budget cuts, more often than not the writing budget is the first to take the hit.
Although a monumental mistake, it's pretty clear why this happens. After all, the thought process is that anyone can write, right? At least everyone thinks they can write. Remember, the key word here is thinks.
Sadly, the mindset is to focus on the "important" stuff and give the writing projects to anyone who wants to or has the time to attempt them - this often includes bored secretaries, part-timers and interns.
Things like this happen everyday. Yet we all know there's not a single business owner, venture capitalist or CEO in the world who would recommend having non-professionals or unqualified personnel tackle other department projects whether it was in accounting, engineering, administration, advertising or anywhere else.
And none of those departments would ever get off the ground without having the ability to create copy that either persuades, conveys, sells, explains, teaches, or promotes its overall message through technical works, proposals, business letters, grant writing, business plans, etc, etc...
So think long and hard before opting for some generic, ordinary template that your competitor may have already used for the purpose of cutting costs. The only template for success is one that singles and separates your business from the competition. In other words, seek out writing that isn't canned and packaged into some random, bland business software kit, but rather choose customized writing that conveys your message and your message only like no template ever could. And that's exactly the kind of writing that an award-winning professional like me will create.
